Sacraments
During your child’s time at St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School, they will have the opportunity to deepen their faith and grow closer to God through participating in sacramental preparation programmes.
Catholic children in Year 3 receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Our preparation programme usually begins after Christmas during the Spring Term. We work in collaboration with the Parish Catechists from St Teresa’s Catholic Church, Trent Vale as well as working alongside parents and families; children will attend preparation sessions at school as well as after weekend Masses. More information will be sent out to families of our Year 3 children after Christmas. If your child is in Year 4 or above and you wish them to be included in the preparation programme, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
Catholic children in Year 6 receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Our preparation programme usually begins within the Autumn term, with Confirmation taking place before Christmas. Confirmation preparation is delivered by our school staff and follows a reflective programme where children consider the importance of deepening their faith through Confirmation and explore the importance of the lives of the Saints. Children consider their own Vocation and what God is calling them to do through their faith. Additional information will be sent out to Year 6 at the start of the Autumn Term.
Our sacramental preparation is also enhanced by our collaboration with The Fishers from St John Fisher Catholic College. Through their workshop deliveries, our children enjoy in school retreat sessions which allow them to sing, pray and reflect together on their journey in faith.
